[78-L] How Well Did They Do It

All of the above.  Vocals are only part of the record and not the whole
thing for the most part (yippee!)   Lyrics are often clever/funny  The
melodies are easy to recognize/hum/whistle, harmonies are interesting.
Instrumentation is varied.  The bands swing, have a good beat.'

I also like the acousticals but not the vocal material as much as the
instrumental stuff unless the lyrics are clever and/or funny.

What do you think it is that attracts you to this period?  Instrumentaion? 
Beat?  Feel?  What sparks the passion?

For me it's both beat and "good" musicianship.  I'm just not drawn to
ballads or almost anything with a slower tempo.  Maybe it's just my ADD at
work.
