Cary,

In fact, in the year after "Jazz" aired, Burns could be seen all over New
York at various clubs to hear many things for himself; one in particular was
the Chicago Jazz Ensemble at Birdland, conducted by William Russo. Burns had
a long conversation with Bill, reportedly about Stan Kenton. The word I got
was that Burns realized after the series had been finished that there was
much more to the story than he was given to understand, and he was exploring
further on his own.

Who knows, maybe he might go back and re-do "Jazz." I don't think it is on
his priorities list, but anything's possible.
