[78-L] From Brad K: The Last Generic Songster?

Okay, here's an idle question about popular singing:  We know that by the 
early '30s, the "intimate" Crosby/Columbo/Vallée style had all but supplanted the 
"generic" style of Billy Murray/Irving Kaufman/Arthur Fields.  What and When 
were the last or latest song(s) on record, featuring an unapologetically 
"generic" vocal?  

I guess that by 1933 they were totally extinct.   What say y'all?
