Oh, okay. When doing research at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu a few
years ago I was introduced to the Helen Roberts collection of cylinders.
Ms. Roberts was an ethnomusicologist, and beginning in 1928, traveled
the Hawaiian islands with an Edison machine recording the old chants and
mele of Hawaii. The oldest person to record was 92 years old and would
have been born in 1836. I have a copy around here somewhere.
