Could be mold. In the absence of a designed for record cleaning solution,
mild soap and water with painter's pad may remove it. Rinse and dry well.
Don't soak. It won't hurt shellac.

Subject: [78-L] What has spotted these discs?

Several records in this newly acquired "Birth of the blues" album
(Victor P-82) have spotting on them. "Careless love" (Victor 27545-A) and
"Memphis blues" (Victor 27542-B) are spotted with something, and I don't
want to assume it is mold.
Can anyone please diagnose what this is? It's in the grooves and
everywhere. What is the solution to removing it? Thanks in advance.
