[78-L] Belinnik rec

Friend sent me a very rare Russian 10" vinyl through, of shellacs of the tenor Peter Belinnik. 

I should have cottoned on when the inner plastic sleeve came out brittle! On playing the vinyl, my stylus produced spirals (literally) of loose vinyl / rubbish which got all over the place, and messed up the cantilever. Have managed to clean the latter (I think). So have asked for another copy of the album (which is likely to be difficult). I shall have a go at cleaning it when the new RCM comes.

Has anyone had this experience with a brand new vinyl? And what did you do with it? (I recall one vinyl - a Greek pressing - many years ago that was similar, tho it wasn't nearly as bad as this Russian one).
