[78-L] copyright

I'll go back to what I consider example #1 which I've posted before, but
not recently.
A good friend of mine in the biz issued a box set, on a major label, of
"the complete recordings of" a few years ago which sold in the high
6-figures in the US. It was discovered about a year after release that
there was a French boot of the recordings - including an identical
beautifully produced box and the liner note booklet - that was making
good money in Europe. He researched this, found it to be true and took
it to the label's legal department. After great thought and hemming &
hawing they declined to pursue the matter of not only copyright
infringement, but outright theft. Figured it would cost them more in
legal fees than they could make in profit from any lawsuit.
So, I'd go for it if I were you and cease if anyone starts getting
legally nasty about it. Chances are they won't even note your efforts.
Then again, given the times...
It's obviously your call!
Good luck,
Malcolm
