It should read "FRANCES".  If your label says "FRANCIS"  ...er...let's not 
get started on that again.  :>)



It should, but it doesn't, nor does the copyrighted lyric (1921).   Billy 
Jones and Ada Jones sing 'Francis' as well, though it's hard to know which  each 
is singing.  Was it permitted then to alter a lyric genderwise?   As I recall, 
a number of pop recordings of the '20s sound ludicrous because of  this 
requirement.
