I've heard an aphorism quoted, attributed to Voltaire, though I've never been able to find it in an online dictionary of quotes: "I disagree with what you way, and will defend to your death my right to silence you."
On second thoughts, it's more likely to be Cardinal Richelieu than Voltaire.
