Many thanks for the info, Harold. Perhaps the Sunny Disposish on Original
Sounds of the 20s is the 1933 track noted as "issued on LP." If so, it is
a very modern and sophisticated vocal.
Her Brunswick from 1929 of It's Unanimous Now b/w Then You've Never Been
Blue is one of the finest vocal records of the era.
Please let us know if you track down any more info.
Thanks from
Taylor B

Subject: [78-L] Frances Williams
I can't directly answer the question about where Frances Williams' recording
of
"A Sunny Disposish" comes from--I don't have the CED handy--but I did
transcribe which
labels she recorded for at which points, and others can probably fill in the
details.
Victor: 1925 and 1928 (tests)
Brunswick: 1928-29
Columbia: 1933 (rejected, issued on LP)
Marconi: 1937
I honestly don't know what that last item is; I've never seen a Marconi
label mentioned
in the various label guides.
Frances Williams is, I believe, the blonde singer belting out the title song
in "Hollywood Party" (1934). She was quite active on Broadway from the 20s
through early 40s, but her
film work was mostly limited to short subjects and guest appearances.
