[78-L] Xmas Music

There was an alternate take B to the original take, which has been issued on
CD, but for some reason wasn't pulled by Decca to replace take A, instead of
rerecording the song.

A Decca record, originally in the "Holiday Inn" album. Soundtracks weren't
being issued at this time..if they had been, you'd have heard Marjorie
Reynolds
(or was it Martha Mears dubbing?) singing harmony. I see Mike Biel has just
responded to this without explaining why it was rerecorded. This was one of
the
last recordings Decca made before the AFM ban, and before they began
recording
masters on 33RPM discs which could be dubbed to 78 masters for new
pressings.
The original one was a huge hit and the parts just wore out!

There have been a few reissues claiming to have the "original" but which in
fact used the remake (I think the "Bing's Hollywood" series had this
problem).
