I googled "find the day of the week" and ended up with dozens of geek-oriented 
formulae for doing this in your head and using only sixteen toes and still 
didn't come up with an answer..tried "perpetual calendar" instead and found an 
instant link (I needed to know the day of something happening "this Thursday" 
from an article in a 1931 newspaper clipping, given only the dateline).
