I think Mr. Lennick is right - as usual.
The trademark is a logo and the correct representation of the graphic
means everything.
Even the font design matters - compare apples to apples - meaning the
logo of the Beatle's record company to that of the computer company.
However, I think that Lp is closer to the logo than LP.
And that's the way it is in Mont®éal,
