[78-L] New Mayfair violins

Well, I've just played it and the bars played by the string section were 
just a straight forward part of the arrangement. Paul Whiteman also used his 
strings to play more than a few notes as did many (most) dance bands of the 
era. The appelation "solo" usually means an improvised segment in which only 
one instrumentalist plays. In this case it does not very well apply and 
there appears to be nothing out of the ordinary in this very typical dance 
record by the good ol' Mayfair. Just the very nice use of different sections 
to add some spice to the ensemble playing.
