It is a well-known song of the 1910's. You can find many versions
under the title "Brooklyn Cake-Walk". It has been composed by Thurban.
I have several versions of it :
-a London G&T from 1902 single-sided by the H. M. Grenadier Guards
-an Edison cylinder by the Edison Military Band
-a French Pathé cylinder of the same song, there sung in French by
the well-known comic Charlus under the title "Le Cakè-Valke"
It is known in Germany under the title "Schorschl, ach kauf mir
doch ein Automobil"
That's all I know about it.
Musically,
Peter Nahon
