Ok thx for replying….I was able to record it now, after I had to set up my gear again…and I can say it’s definitely not the Gennet record with Josephine Beatty, at least not the same take. I’d say it’s not her at all, but I just so much fail to link it to Josephine Baker either, though there’s a hunch of frivolity in the singing which would fit Josephine Baker. I uploaded a sample of it, so maybe someone ‘really’ knows what this is. You can find it here :

Thanks for trying !
Jan
PS: Kristjan Saag also replied me, but he seems to have difficulties getting it back to the listing, so here’s his message :
"Hi, Jan,
Unfortunately my mail to the 78 list doesn't get through.
I put some effort into finding answers to your questions, so I forward this to you this way instead.
But, if you please, copy my mail and send it to the list from your address, explaining why I asked you to do so. So that others can see the answers as well.
Kind regards,
Kristjan Saag
Sweden"

> However, a quick Google search turned up Winner 6285 (link below). It's a British label typical of the mid to late 1920's, but this 6000 series surely must have been for export only. Note that the title 'Cuckuck' is German for 'Cuckoo', so perhaps not intended for export to France in this case.

The original issue was Gennett 5594. Josephine Beatty was actually a pseudonym for Alberta Hunter. As far as I can tell, Josephine Baker didn't record 'Everybody Loves My Baby', though she may have sung it in live performances.

> When I look through the record listings of Winner, I noticed that the numbers stop somewhere around 4K, so this 6367 could be either a repressing, possibly from another label, or just a French division of the label, not sure. The track recorded here is written as “Ev'rybody loves my baby” by Josephine Baker & her Five Red Onions. Though I am unable to find any info on this record nor the “ Five Red Onions”, except for a record on Gennett (5594) by…Josephine Beatty, accompanied by the “Red Onions Jazz Band” which I think is Clarence Williams and co. It’s almost too much of a coincidence….strange.

> The matrix of the record reads C 10033 G (or maybe 6) , which is actually stamped over a hand written number, and barely readable ending with, probably …2540 x Any idea ? Thanks !
