[78-L] QUESTION

Sincerest condolences, Marlene. I knew Fred mainly through the web but we may have met at least once. I think it was through either Kirk Bauer, Tim Hume or Dick Lagerman. Both the last two have also passed on. I too collect records that I like, not based on monetary value, but I am primarily a wind-up era phonograph collector. It is true a lot of records have little value because they are common. Some disks because of who recorded them are worth vast amounts. You can get a sense for that by looking at Ebay, advanced search options and choosing completed or sold items. Another place to check value is Popsike.com. Klickitat is the hosting site for the e-mail list that you posted to. It's the way groups of like minded people got together before the web took off.

Posting to various groups on FaceBook is also a good way to connect. Lots of younger/newly interested collectors are there and eager to get records. Finding people in your locale is also nice since it avoids the odious task of packing records to ship them safely. They can be mailed media rated, by the way.

I live in N. Attleboro, MA, but don't remember where you are. If I can be of further help, let me know.

Sincerely,

Ron L'Herault

Subject: [78-L] QUESTION

First of all I am not really familiar with your site klickitat/list....I don't know if what I'm about to ask is a t all possible but I thought I'd ask. I happened to find 'you' on my husbands contact list on his Email.
He, my husband Fred passed in the early part of this year. We were very close and I miss him terribly. Fred collected 78's from the 30s - 40s and he and I listened to them all the time. I loved listening to the music together but really know very little about them other than how much I enjoyed them..
I am now starting to let them go slowly because....I am definitely not interested in selling the entire collection for RESALE.
I have given this a great deal of thought and I really want to sell them individually if possible. I know that this could take a long long time but it is what I believe Fred would have wanted as well.
My son already having an E-bay account started putting a few records onto his site a few at a time but with little interest since people who would be interested don't know he is selling them.So I thought I'd look around for ways on how I could let them know and I came across kickitat and I am wondering if this is a place/list where I can tell people about my sons site.? I don't know if that is what your list is about but if this is a possibility please let me know.

I am very sad to have to see them go but I just can't see them sitting here collecting dust. Fred would want them listened to and enjoyed...and so do I.

If you can't help me....maybe you have a suggestion.
SincerlyMarlene
BTW..It is better if you contact me at my Email address,,,since I don't check Fred's yahoo very often and will eventually be closing it.

THANK YOU
