[78-L] Robots

Does anyone know about early use of the term "robot" in popular music?
I've found a piano piece by British pianist/ composer Billy Mayerl from 1928

...but apart from that very little before Les Baxter's "Mr Robot" in 
1958, even that almost outside the scope of the 78 rpm era.
