Fifteen years ago I made a list of last 78's, according to reports by 78
l-members, literature etc.
Here it is, with a few additions:

Archive) Children's records a few years more.

1960 last EMI 78 in the UK: Russ Conway: "Royal Event"/ "Rule Britannia
(Columbia DB 4418)

"Save The Last Dance For Me"/ "It's Now Or Never" (Embassy WB 419)
1961 The Film-Karusell Co in Sweden issues a few 21 cm children's
records on
coloured vinyl

children's
records on 78 rpm (Andrew Brown 78-L Jan 5 2003)

1963 last known Turkish 78 rpm (Benno Haeupl 78-L Aug 30 2005)

1966 The China Record Company still manufactures shellac 78's (Mark Hendrix
78-L Jan 6 2003) (Benno Haeupl later added 1972 as latest date for
Chinese 78's - see 78-L Aug 30 2005)
1966 last known Philippines' 78 rpm (Benno Haeupl 78-L Aug 30 2005)
1968 last South African 78 rpm (Kieffer 78-L Apr 8 2000); Lukenite, however
has 1974 (78-L Jan 25 2000)
1968 last library music 78 issued in the UK (Dave Lennick 78-L Jan 5 2003)
1971 last Russian Melodija 78 (probably reported by Mike Biel)
1974 last Indian 78 (http://www.bajakhana.com.au/Sound-rec-Ind-3D.htm)
1978 last 6'' vinyl 78 for children in "My Record"-series (distributed by
Louis Marks in Swansea, UK)
1980 vinyl 78's still issued in Kenya (Lukenite 78-L Apr 8 2000)
1981 The last known shellac-like pressing (at the Orlake pressing plant
in Dagenham, UK) was made for Paul McCartney's private pressings of the
1958 demo reissue of "That'll Be The Day"/ "In Spite Of All The Danger".
(See article in Record Collector  - the UK Magazine), December 1998 pp
30-31)

Corrections and additions most welcome.
