Yes, I add grease to the balls, of only because it's the way to get them held into their cups when assembling the soundbox. 
As I've announced at the end of the reports, next experiment will be to make new diaphragms of different materials, or trying different models. The Columbia type aluminium diaphragm, for instance, is a very good candidate...
