After several years of ill health, Nat Hentoff died at the age of 91 on
January 7, 2017. His accomplishments as a writer and journalist on the
jazz and political are well known. His value as a social commentator was
evident in the fact that he angered partisans on the right and the left.
Nat was blessed with an exceedingly brilliant mind and a generous,
gentle soul. He lives on in his published work. -Michael Cuscuna
