Happy New Year to everyone.
I played lots of 78s on new years eve, even Batwings and Spike Jones, to much delight.

Happy New Year from Scandinavia!
Why not start the year with something I guess has never been a topic on
this list: Your Secret 78 Love Affair?!
An artist you just can't resist because of her or his charm/ beauty/
charisma - talent and musicality apart.
I have a weak spot for Gloria DeHaven (who passed away last year).
Here's one of the reasons why:

As I mentioned on the WFUV website, it was a gut-punch to hear this. I knew he had cancer and was undergoing treatments, but also heard he was responding ok to the chemo. A huge shock indeed. I started listening to him in 1974 and shortly after would call to contribute to the station and say hello. We were then on radio briefly together on WJAZ in Stamford, Ct and then hadn't seen him for a few years until I started attending the Ken Crawford Record Bash on a regular basis. He even had me on a Big Broadcast show in the summer of '15 of which I am very proud since he rarely had guests.
Sundays will never, ever be the same. I only hope FUV keeps running his old shows.

At a time when the music and culture of the prewar era is all but completely
forgotten, he is a tremendous loss to those of us trying to keep it alive.
There was nothing else quite like his program.
Elizabeth.

I just wanted to invite folks to my online show, Gospel Boogie. I spin
uptempo records from the golden age of gospel music. Black & White,
Country & Bluegrass. The shows air each Sunday, 9am CST, 7am PST on
Thumbin' Radio. After airing, each show is added to the repository for
downloading or streaming. The link below will take you to the previous
shows. Enjoy!
