A brief film by Russian filmmaker Kirill Serebrennikov depicting the 
event at which Tchaikovsky made a cylinder recording. At the end the 
recording is heard. The cylinder in the film is black. I was thinking 
white or brown wax would have been more appropriate.

Director Kirill Serebrennikov made the film for record voice by Pyotr 
Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

In the autumn of 2016 in Moscow, in the House-Museum Yermolova, a famous 
film director Kirill Serebrennikov has carried out the shooting of the 
short film "Phonograph".

The film is based on the famous incident that occurred in January 1890.

Julius I. Block - a music lover and enthusiast of early recordings, 
which in 1889 first brought to Russia Edison phonograph, made a record 
on the phonograph edeey game great pianist Anton Rubinstein. But the 
pianist refused to be recorded.

Then those present, among whom was Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, just 
started messing with the machine, recording everything that comes to mind.

On the recording heard that the participants do not lose hope to seat 
Rubinstein at the piano.

The company gathered at the phonograph, included: the soloist of the 
Bolshoi Theatre, Elizabeth Lavrovskaya, pianist, composer, founder and 
first director of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Anton Rubinstein, 
pianist and conductor, director of the Moscow Conservatory Vasily 
Safonov and pianist Alexander Hubert.

Kirill Serebrennikov's film "Phonograph" is made for the fund Ksenia 
Rappoport, Sasha Dal and Danila Kozlovsky " Children B. E .L. A. 
Children Butterfly "created to help children with a rare genetic 
disorder - epidermolysis bullosa (EB). According to world statistics, BE

Cause of the disease is gene breaking, because of which the body lacks 
the protein responsible for skin layer compound.

If any mechanical injury, and sometimes even without it on the child's 
skin bubbles appear and the skin peels off, leaving an open wound that 
must constantly be covered with special dressings and protect against 
re-injury.

People suffering from epidermolysis bullosa, called "butterflies", 
metaphorically comparing their sensitive skin from the wing of a butterfly.

In December 2016 the fund "Children B.E.L.A." held an auction in which 
the rights to the film "Phonograph" have been sold, and the proceeds 
went to the aid of the Trust Fund.

The film stars well-known actors and musicians: Evgeny Mironov (Peter 
Ilyich Tchaikovsky), Ksenia Rappoport (Elizabeth Andreyevna 
Lavrovskaya), Sergei Galanin (Anton Rubinstein), Vadim Zhuravlev (Vasily 
Safonov), Eugene Kamenkovich (Julius I. Block).
