50s, heck. I was born in '63. My first record player was acoustic, used steel needles, and only played 78's and 45's. 33's were for grown-ups because grown-ups were a lot slower.

Come to think of it, I remember having yellow and orange 78s, why were
children's records 78s into the 50s?
