[78-L] Awful singers

One explanation of these awful female singers with one or two records to
their credit is the "chippie" theory of music production. A chippie (we
used to call 'em groupies) was a band follower usually trying to get
laid by the star, and usually working her way through the band to get
there. If the star saw something he really liked he'd entice her with
letting her "sing" a number with the band. Worked every time. Some
things never change.
