[78-L] Westminster album design

Hi David,
My recollection re Angel is they offered a "thrift" edition of their
releases which came in a
generic jacket, pasted on label giving contents information but no notes or
album art. A few of their full price single albums had booklets - never
recall one being missing, but would guess that if it were, a phone call to
Angel would get one for free.
One could buy copies of Folkways booklets if you wanted one and did not
buy the record. Folkways had many albums pressed and distributed before the
booklets were printed which
contained a slip of paper you could send to Folkways to receive the booklet
when it was available.
I think the Westminster albums I bought were all after they renumbered the
albums to an XWN series. In later years I found the earlier WL series, and
the folk series when they were
deleted. The early albums went through a number of album designs, some with
basically
a generic jacket (big ben???), paste on sticker showing contents. The early
releases in the WL 5000 series started as WL 50-xx. Guess they didn't think
they would have more than 99 albums ???
Anyone know how high the xx went before they made it a 5000 series? or how
high the 5000 series
went before they changed to the XWN 18000 series ??
Best wishes, Thomas.

I seem to recall them doing something similar to Angel, where they'd offer a
plain design for a dollar less and an option to send for the booklet....?
