Might that be an artist number? I've noticed on a lot of acoustic Victors that each artist has an associated number under the record number, i.e. Caruso was "68", Stokowski was "410", etc.

Can anyone tell me, what a "2" under the record number means on some Victor records?
You can see one here on my homepage: http://www.the-discographer.dk/opera/tetrazzini-disko.pdf
92015.
I have learnt:
A box around the number means an export copy to Latin America.
A line under the number means a new recording of the same song.
all the best
