[78-L] ...and what about non-opera classical?

Are there younger collectors who revere the Fritz Kreislers or Serge
Rachmaninoffs?  How about symphonic stuff like Toscanini or Koussevitzky?
Do those performances have anything to recommend them over the modern
recordings with all that post-space-age digital inhumanly-high-fidelity??  I
readily admit to liking some of them, but wonder if it's only because I
bought them as a kid and got used to them, or am I really privileged to get
to hear these golden performances that the kids won't get to enjoy??
