The quotation is attributed to another Texan,  Vice President John Nance 
Garner,  who said that the office of V-P wasn't worth a "pitcher of warm 
spit" but he probably used another word for a different bodily liquid.

Either way,  I'd rather be VP than clean my records with saliva!
