[78-L] TWO OBITS

Johnny Mann passed away last Wednesday.  Checking to see if he made 78s, I found his Orchestra and Chorus (prior to being called the Johnny Mann Singers) backing Eddie Cochran on SITTIN’ IN THE BALCONY in 1957 when both were with Liberty Records.

Jimmy C. Newman died on Saturday.  Many of his 50s recordings were on 78, such as CRY, CRY DARLIN’ and A FALLEN STAR.
