[78-L] Watermenlon Smilin' on the Vine

Hello,
I am doing some research for a family who lives near me. Jodi (the 
wife)'s father was Harvey Cox, a locally popular country musician from 
the 30's until the 70's. He was only recorded twice, in the early 70's. 
By then he was getting up in age. He died in 1998 at the age of 90 (or so).

One of the songs was "The Watermelon Song." I have now figure out that 
this is the sang, "Watermelon Smilin' on the Vine," which as written 
possibly in the late 1800's.

Was it recorded by anyone else?
