[78-L] Facebook - again

Happy Birthday, Duke. And it was Mercer who said it. (My original Bluebird
pressing implies that the song might have had lyrics by Johnny Mercer..they put
a hyphen between Mercer and Ellington!)
I'm a more recent convert, having resisted Facebook for years for the same
reasons many claim. I logged on and found I'd been "friended" in 2007 and
hadn't bothered to check in for all that time. I find no abuse whatsoever and
the record groups are coming up with fascinating information and contacts.

For some odd reason, the populations of each of these targeted Facebook groups are behaving themselves. None of the non-stop arguments, can-you-top-this pun contests, and tangential topics spinning off into outer space. I'm hearing music and seeing labels that I've never seen before from collectors around the world with important things to add to the discussion - Anyone who still thinks that Facebook is for the birds is just hiding their own ostrich-headed plumes in the sand. 78-L served its purpose, but I've found a new home. Now mind you, I'll still tune in to see what everyone is talking about now and again - but as Duke Ellington said, "Things Ain't What They Used to Be."
