"Ah, the Interlude Period, as in a temporary break in the action. That does kinda fit the Doggie In the Window / Mama Will Bark Era. It just doesn't seem to measure up to the intensity of the big band years or the rockabilly years in terms of exciting music."Most late '50s rockabilly didn't chart; are we comparing the pop hits of an earlier era to a fraction of the generally wilder music of a later one? Imo as of 1949-1950, typical hillbilly boogie such as Wayne Raney's and Ernie Ford's and typical R&B such as Freddie Mitchell's and John Lee Hooker's were more exciting than Johnny Burnette would ever be.Joseph Scott
