Replacement in whose band? Como joined Weems band when Weems saw him sing with Freddie Carlone's band at a casino in Warren, Ohio in 1935. Como apparently was trying to decide between joining Weems or Paul Whiteman, from whom he also had an offer. If Como decided on Whiteman, Weems was going to pick Frankie Laine instead. Laine ended up replacing Como in Carlone's group.
