The review I found of the movie in a 1929 issue of a trade journal I have specifically mentions dialogue at the end of the picture. It was in their release calendar as being available both sound-on-film and sound-on-disc, as well as in a silent version for theaters not yet equipped for sound. A format for everybody.
Sort of like when record companies were issuing albums in 78 rpm, 45 rpm and LP.
Their release calendar, incidentally, gives the release date as June 20.

In addition, the EDVR states there is no dialog for reels 7 or 8, but there actually is dialog for those reels, synchronized
I would expect. Also mentions synchronized dialog for reel 2 which must be the song PALS FOREVER. Cool!

Interesting that these discs were recorded from film on June 20-21, 1929. Yet, according to IMDb the movie was released
on June 2. Guess the initial release was to a select few theaters that had the newer sound equipment.
