The Media History Digital Library has scanned a number of radio
magazines<http://mediahistoryproject.org/broadcasting/>,
and there is an article on electronic
instruments<http://archive.org/stream/radiotoday03unse#page/n813/mode/2up>in
the September 1937 issue of Radio Today (from the collections of the
Library of Congress). This includes a photo of Lew Green and Ferde Grofe
with the Epiphone electric guitar.
