I could never understand what he saw in her. She
wasn't beautiful, and by the time they met she was
pretty shop-worn, to put it as politely as possible.
She was nothing but an egregious social climber.
As for Edward's claim that he could not carry out his
DUTIES as King without etc. etc., what a laugh!! Both as PoW and King, Edward was only interested in one thing, and Duty WASN'T it!!
In our own day, the first two sentences apply equally
to Camilla Parker-Bowes....

Have you found any versions where he says "Ah screw it! The broad looks
like a bird. I'm sticking with being King!!!" ?

Last week I got a 12" copy of the speech released by Center Music Store
in
the RCA Building at 30 Rock in New York. Here's the discog. info:
Farewell Speech of Former King Edward VIII, Center Music Store (CM
#1A/CM
1B), 12"
And just in tonight, a 10" copy with no maker listed. Unfortunately, it
was
poorly packed and arrived in a million pieces. For the record, here's
the
info:
Farewell Address of King Edward VIII of England, no maker, white/cream
label
(L-0369-A-3/L-0370-B-3), 10"
There are a few more copies I've discovered and hope to have in-hand
(and
unbroken) shortly. Thanks to everyone who provided information on other
versions of the disc.
