[78-L] GBA 75th tonight

Finishing up all the transfers needed for the God Bless America 75th
Anniversary program tonight. Running off from videotape Kate Smith's
final performance of her career "The Stars and Stripes Show" aired June
30, 1976. Am rather conflicted because the program now has one of my
all-time favorite compositions "Ballad For Americans", but replacing the
great Paul Robeson is the accursed Anita Bryant. UGH. Better not think
about it.

Seth Winner was working till 2 AM this morning restoring the first
broadcast, Nov 10, 1938 from the disc in Irving Berlin's personal
collection using as a template a short excerpt of the original that
Berlin's copy was dubbed from.

tonight at 10:30 PM Eastern Standard Time, www.YesterdayUSA.com  both
Red and Blue feeds; repeated Monday 9:30 AM Blue feed.  Many 78s and
broadcast recordings will be heard.
