[78-L] wha?^

One can lie lying or standing, seated or kneeling.

"Lie"  is intransitive - go lie down for a while

"Lay" is transitive - now I lay me down to sleep - lay down your arms

The confusion is likely due to the principal parts -  lie-lay-lain  --  lay-laid-laid

Thus far the grammar police for today.
