1/2 way through the band goes into klezmer mode to give the music an oriental sound. Trombone and I think sax or clarinet solos.

Near the end, a singer sings three lines which I can't make out.

Does someone sing these lines on the versions on OKeh 4092 (is this the same as the Emerson?) and Gennett 9035, which may be clearer?

Is this piece connected to the Rubaiyat?

The composer is Leo Edwards, brother of Gus. Leo also wrote also wrote Panama Pacific Drag, recorded by Joseph Moscowitz, Fanny Brice's I'm An Indian and Becky Is Back In The Ballet, as well as If Every Star Was A Little Pickanniny (and there was a little chicken in the moon -- they'd cook him on the dipper in the Milky Milky Way and we'd have chicken dinner every morning, night, and noon.). Oy!
