Linden #147Stan Boreson and the Art Barduhn TrioThe Squaws Along the Yukon
While there are more prolific, living Country singers from the 78 era, one
easily overlooked did release several sides on Seattle's Linden label. He
is Stan Boreson, overlooked because of his other recordings. Stan lives in
Seattle, winters in California, and I spoke to him a few months ago.
Haven't heard his version of "The Squaws Along the Yukon," but it was
co-written by Texas Jim Lewis. Stan and Jim (aka/Sheriff Tex) were
competing children's television pioneers in Seattle, Washington beginning
in 1950 or 1951. Stan of course found a better record sales on the lutefisk
circuit, creating still popular scandinavian parodies of Christmas songs.
If the phrase, "valking in your vinter undervear" strikes a bell, you've
heard Stan.
I suspect Stan would admit that George Jones sang better.
