George Jones' passing at the age of 81 leaves us with precious few country
stars remaining from the so-called "golden age of country" of the 1950s. Of
the top hitmakers who made the country charts in the fifties, I can think of
the following survivors:
Ray Price (87)Jean Shepard (79)The Everly Brothers (Don, 76 & Phil, 74)The
Browns (Maxine, 82; Jim Ed, 79, & Bonnie, 75)
Everyone else is gone.
