[78-L] Jan & Dean karaoke?

Anyone tell me what this might be? It's a 12-inch lacquer disc recorded by 
Spectra-Sound Inc., Hollywood, containing 6 tracks, almost all instrumental, 
with "Jan & Dean" written on the label. These appear to be backing tracks, but 
for what purpose?
