[78-L] (European) Recording media - gelatin (?) foils

Surely, but for example Decelith foils are another story - in addition I saw 
some gelatin foils from the very same age (around 1939. or so) that cracked 
and broke into pieces due to drying. Decelith foils were intact, with no 
signs of deterioration.

Prone to aging? Everything including us is prone to aging....

These are also difficult to clean as they dissolve when wet (I've been
told, haven't handled one myself).
