[78-L] How do you pronounce "Gennett"?

I used to pronounce (actually thought it--there was no-one to say it to 
at the time!] this with a hard G, until I heard others pronounce it with 
a soft G. I assumed that the others being seasoned collectors knew this 
to be the correct way, but is it?

I suppose my choice was based on its similarity to "Gannett"? In fact, 
someone here in the UK in the 70s had a reissue label called "Gannett", 
which used a Gennett-type label design.
