Did anyone see a recent episode of "CSI, Crime Scene Investigation" where the plot centred around an LP?  Basically, there was a plane crash where sabotage was suspected and one of the clues was a piece of dried glue with strange markings.  There was also a body buried with some pieces of vinyl shavings.  As the plot progressed, it turned out that the shavings were from the results of someone taking a box cutter to an LP and the glue was the remnants of the method of cleaning LPs with applied wood glue, (a method which has gotten a lot of attention recently).  In the episode, the detective demonstrates this method of cleaning LPs and the strange markings are from the grooves.  They take these fragments of glue and transfer the audio from them into a computer, (this part stretches credibility because the bits are only about an inch long but this yields a few seconds of audio).  They then take a cell phone with a song identifying program and play the
few seconds of audio to identify the song as an extremely rare Frank Sinatra LP of which there were only 1000 copies made.  They find a shop which sells rare memorabilia, discover who purchased the record and voila!  The case is solved.
