Yes, re-tipping is a bit less costly than ordering a whole new stylus.
But if the cantilever is weak, it's best to get a whole new one. Expert
will remove the stock tip from the new one and install any custom tip
you want.
For what it's worth, I have never been disappointed with anything I
have purchased from Expert Stylus Company, going back more than
20 years. I've never had one of their diamond tips fail in any way, and
I am very very hard on them! I've destroyed many cantilevers, but have
never had a diamond come loose, which is simply amazing performance.
I don't know what David means by "loose fit and far too much chatter",
since that would result from playing a groove too large for a 1 mil tip,
which is obviously not the fault of the tip!
