[78-L] Are we allowed to quote people in a book or article when they submit something to the group?

I just picked up a newer book at the library that had a credit for 
lyrics used, with writer, publisher, etc. followed with the statement, 
"used with permission." It was printed in the /front/ of the book on the 
publisher page.
