[78-L] Where to find 78 rpm ?

Thomas,

I have just looked at your site and the UK listings you have are the ones I would have suggested.   I have dealt with Greg Butler before and would recommend him to others although never visited the big fair at his home.  I have heard good things about the Diskery and the other seller named but not visited myself....yet.

I buy alot of 78s online but also buy records from lists posted to me.  In addition, I buy 78s as and when I find them in charity shops and at car boot sales but these are not static shops and the items change continuously (or in the case of car boot sales the dealers will be different every week).  I also put ads in the local admag/paper or in newsagent windows and buy 78s that were once stashed in attics - once they're gone, they're gone...

My local record shop (Sound it Out Records in Stockton on Tees, England) occasionally gets 78s in and I usually just offer so much for the whole box.  He mainly deals in indie releases on LP and 45 and rare 60s/70s vinyl and has no other 78rpm buyers so I generally get them.

There is a record fair at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham that is advertised on various sites on the internet that you may wish to add.  Always 78s available from the 1890s Berliner era upto and including the 1960s.  It happens three times a year.  Postcode is B92 0EJ and has a great atmosphere - busy but relaxed.

Hope this helps or explains why there are not so many shops to suggest (at least for my location).

Regards,
Matt in the UK

Be patient..some days this list gets very little traffic and some days it gets
overwhelmed.
