Many thanks. This is a piece about Lily May Ledford, who was recruited 
by John Lair from her home in Kentucky for WLS. The process of 
identifying a performer who was then hired and shaped for the NBD was, I 
think, one of the program's distinctive features. My impression is that 
the NBD was much more an integrated family than the Opry, with 
performers who worked as a group rather than independent performers who 
assembled from everywhere for the single Saturday night Opry show.
